Royal Yacht propellers stolen
Thieves have stolen two propellers from the Royal Yacht Britannia. The phosphor bronze propellers, worth more than £7,000 each, were stored in a warehouse near Britannia's berth at Ocean Terminal in Leith Docks.

Each propeller is over 2m long, and specialist lifting gear, and a flat-back or heavy goods truck would have been needed to lift and move them. Inspector Steven Gibb, of Lothian and Borders Police divisional intelligence unit, said that the theft was "incredibly ambitious" and highlighted the extreme lengths to which criminals would go to cash in on the rise in metal prices.
