Brunswick suspends production
In an attempt to balance the effects of the credit crisis Brunswick is to suspend production across its fibreglass factories in July. This announcement follows the lay off of 400 hundred workers at the Sea Ray plant in Florida in March and the announcement that Boston Whaler will lay off around 250 workers throughout July.

Dan Kubera of Brunswick said, "The US marine industry is currently challenging, driven by an uncertain economy, high fuel prices, the housing slump and other economic factors that have affected American consumers' confidence and eroded their discretionary spending".

Brunswick says the suspension of production is only intended as a temporary measure to help address the decline in marine sales and it hopes to reinstate workers. Kubera says,"We will continue to closely monitor the marine market, and act accordingly".
