Weymouth is looking for a new harbourmaster after Commander Bill Chambers resigned just nine months after being appointed to the office.

Weymouth is looking for a new harbourmaster after Commander Bill Chambers resigned just nine months after being appointed to the office. Mr Chambers, a former Royal Navy officer whose career included command of the Fishery Protection Squadron, is to take up a new position at NATO's Joint Warfare Centre in Norway.

"I've enjoyed my time as Weymouth harbourmaster," he said, "but I'm afraid it's too good an opportunity to miss". A spokesman for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council said that Mr Chambers had made a valuable and lasting contribution to the workings of the harbour.
