London Boat Show closes on a high
- Mon, 18 Jan 2010
A bumper final three days, which saw 45,000 people stream through the doors of ExCeL, pushed the final attendance at the 2010 Tullett Prebon London International Boat Show over the hallowed 100,000 mark.
Doubts had been raised earlier in the week about the event reaching this point, given the weather's obvious impact on people's desire to trek to East London.
But it was pleasing to see the show storm back over the closing stages, bringing the final attendance to 102,655, a 9% drop on 2009.
"To have welcomed over 100,000 visitors, considering such adverse weather, has been reassuring for the show and importantly the marine industry," said Andrew Williams, MD of National Boat Shows.
"Indeed, to have opened the show on time at 10am on 8 January, with exhibitors and the show ready and waiting was an amazing achievement in itself."
Make sure you pick up the March issue of MBM for our full review of the event, but get a sneak peek at what we considered to be the outstanding motorboats of the show here.

Whatever you think in reality there was little to encourage vistitors with yet more overpriced yachts and pompous sales people who were struggling to remain upbeat. Maybe its just too big a show and we so little for the average man. It costs a fortune for food and drink and for a family doesn't represent good value at all. I don't think it's ever re-captured the buzz of Earls Court.

Have to say any show that gets over 100,000 people through the doors today has to be considered a success times are tough and in a down market it has to a result. www.worldmarineguide.com
