Photos of Fairline Sunfury ripped from its moorings

A boatowner got the call we all dread when he was told his boat had been ripped from its moorings, incurring thousands of pounds worth of damage

On 23 May Alex Holmes got a call that will haunt him forever. Following storms on the west coast of Scotland that included winds of up to 100mph, the manager of a caravan park near to where he kept his boat called to say his boat had been ripped from its moorings and deposited on the banks of Loch Fyne.

Alex described the following weeks as “horrendous” as he assessed the damage, which he estimates to be in the region of £20,000, and arranged to have the boat lifted.

The boat is now in the hands of the insurance company as Alex has an agonising wait to see if it will be written off.
