Riva Iseo: photos and first look

At 27 feet, the entry-level Iseo is the smallest boat in the Riva range, taking its name from Lake d’Iseo, where a young carpenter Pietro Riva first made a name for himself in 1842, mending boats that had been ravaged by a storm.

The Riva Iseo is trailable, and is suitable for use either inland or at sea (it has a category B offshore rating). It’s fitted with a single Yanmar 6BY2 260 engine – which is what is used in BMWs – and produces a top speed of 37 knots, matching the Aquariva but with a much lower fuel consumption.

A water jet version is under development, as is a new hybrid engine that will offer consumption of just 1.2 litres per mile at 30 knots. The in-line electric motor will provide additional thrust of up to 44 knots and at slow speeds, under electrical power alone, it will have a range of 40 miles.
