Beachy Head lighthouse to lose its stripes

Beachy Head lighthouse is to be allowed to lose its distinctive red and white stripes because it is no longer considered an important day navigation mark.
Trinity House says it can no longer justify the £45,000 cost of repainting the lighthouse every 10 years, but will continue to keep the light operational to assist navigation after dark.

Is it a red lighthouse with white stripes or a white lighthouse with red stripes?
When it fades will it become a rather odd pink and white lighthouse?!
