Thieves strike lifeboat
- Tue, 7 Feb 2012
Police are hunting thieves who carried out a series of thefts from Fowey's offshore lifeboat, Maurice and Joyce Hardy.
Quick release stainless steel shackle assemblies were stolen from the 14m RNLI Trent class boat on four separate occasions over a 10-week period while it was secured on its mooring at Berrills Yard. Each theft took place at night, and Devon & Cornwall Police asks anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Agree all of the above but, in addition, one has to ask why such a critical asset was so poorly monitored that four such incidents could go unobserved in just 10 weeks? CCTV? Lessons Learned? Remedial action across the fleet?
