The Antares 11 is a brave step from Beneteau, as it's stepping into the shoes of the very popular Antares 10.80. But this isn't just a revamp of an old model, this is a completely new boat - from the keel up. The Antares 11 is a smidge longer and a good foot wider than its predecessor, and the new saloon enjoys a more convivial layout. But the biggest transformation is on the flybridge, which has become so much more than just a place to site an upper helm. The larger superstructure is apparent down below. With extra space forward for a good-sized galley opposite the helm, the saloon can enjoy full-width status with seating on both sides. Two double cabins and a toilet compartment with separate shower cubicle complete the accommodation. In choppy testing conditions, the Antares 11's ride proved commendably soft, however visibility from the lower helm does suffer as the wheel goes over. The hull quickly levels up though, with a natural balance that gives just the right attitude across the water. Tested August 2009.
