Could this be Sealine's light in shining armour?

For: Incredible space and light for the lower dinette and helm
Against: Poor saloon stowage

Sealine's F46 is a refreshing development in a flybridge market crying out for new ideas. The boat runs on Cummins MerCruiser Diesel's Zeus pod drive system, and is a big boat for its length. It's competitive too - with a £460,000 starting price.

The deck level comes to life as the cockpit is allowed to join up with the saloon within, in one big, bright and very social run of seating. This on-board seating is a major feature, with two L-shaped seating sections creating an incredibly relaxed and natural saloon.

But it's the monster window line that makes this boat stand out. It's truly dazzling, delivering a whopping 14 square metres of glass.

The literal high point is the run of 6ft-tall windscreeen sections that wrap around the front of the superstructure. This could lead to the boat becoming a sauna in the summer, but Sealine plans to offer an electric blind system.

The aft master cabin is a compromised space, to allow for the room afforded the lower dinette and galley, but it still exudes luxury.

You'll find bigger cabins on similarly sized boats, but not at this price. On the water, the boat cruises very comfortably, given its size and weight.

Tested September 2009.

Verdict

An exciting and highly social addition to the flybridge scene.
