It's a good-looking 23 footer for sure, but how did it perform on the water?

For: Good looking
Handles well
Has a loo
Against: No wash basin
Extras bump up the price considerably
No standing room in cabin

Karnic is a yard on the up. From its roots as a builder of small runabouts for the local Cypriot market it has grown into an international name in distinctive and high quality sportsboats. Its latest offering is the 2452, which ratchets up the style yet another notch. This is a seriously good-looking boat, but has it got the performance to match?

Priced just under £50k with a 175hp engine, it is bang on the mark with the 7.5m competition, while offering a high level of finish, build and on-water ability. The boat as tested had £3000 of extras – blue hull, electronics, console cover and the leaning post option, including the stove – most of which we’d go for if you really want to get the most out of this boat.

Verdict

The 2452 is a breath of fresh air and shows just how wonderfully exciting and different the sportsboat market can be. It looks sharp, is well put together and handles impressively all the way up to 50 knots (and it’s got a loo!). With the likes of the Jeanneau 7.5 and 8.5 Cap Camarats doing a similarly versatile job it’s an exciting time to be buying a new 24ft boat.
