XO 240RS

James Bond style, Brooke Bond price, are these exciting aluminium XOs as good as they seem?

One small feature typifies the sheer attention to detail that goes into these XO 240s. Two filler caps (one each side) feed the single centrally mounted fuel tank so that whichever side you berth, it’s easy to refuel. It might also say something about just how much use XO expect its owners to put these boats to. Built in Finland, the XO range starts at 22ft and runs to 27ft. A moderate size spectrum by today’s standards, but one that features some big style statements across the open and wheelhouse models. Nordic practicality is underpinned by a super strong high-grade aluminium deep vee hull, 8mm thick at the keel. This is married to GRP topsides in a fusion of tough go-anywhere capability and eye catching looks that start at the sharp, wave-piercing upright stem and meld through to a low pert transom. A wide black rubbing band protects the carbon fibre-esque textured white vinyl wrap (one of four available colours) that covers the aluminium hull. The stem is also rubber, allowing the boat to be nudged bow in against a pontoon.

Nick says…The only reason I hadn’t beaten a faster path to XO’s door was that I fully expected its boats to come with six-figure price tags. The fact they start at around £50k makes them a contender for Motor Boat of the Year.
