With a few more feet to play with, does this 31-footer outshine Paragon's excellent debut model?
| For: | Great looks and handling |
|---|---|
| Against: | You're paying for the style |
For the most part wheelhouse boats have a sensible disposition and a conservative countenance.
However, this painfully cool and very exciting Scandinavian stunner is clearly set on redefining that image.
The Paragon 31 looks awesome and rides even better with a beefy singe turbodiesel hitting 35 knots while also delivering above average fuel efficiency and range.
The flying bridge position aft of the wheelhouse is the perfect spot to take advantage of the boat's sporting capabilities, with room for three to enjoy the ride.
Inside the finish is both elegant and sharp with cabins forward and aft creating privacy for the boat's occupants. The forward cabin also incorporates the galley and toilet compartment, making this a very useable cruiser.
The wheelhouse is very bright and still extols some of that classic wheelhouse charm with its teak fitout.
There are plenty of other old-school practical features around the boat, too, with superbly safe walkaround decks, lots of stowage and a heated screen for when things get steamy in the wheelhouse.
Tested March 2010.
Verdict
The 31 has all the right ingredients to take you cruising in comfort, safety and style
