Yamaha has become the first outboard manufacturer to enter the joystick control market. Designed to be used with twin or triple V6 and V8 engines from 225hp to 350hp, Yamaha teamed up with joystick pioneers Volvo Penta to develop its Joystick Control System to offer easier berthing and slow speed manoeuvring.
As well as the joystick, Yamaha will also introduce a new Volvo Penta inspired throttle unit, which includes automatic trim assist and single lever engine control, and a new One Touch engine stop and start panel incorporating anti theft immobilisers and a contactless key system.
The London Boat Show will also see the unveiling of Yamaha’s new four cylinder F200 2.8 litre 200hp outboard. At 227kg, which is 50kg lighter
than the existing V6 200hp motor, it is claimed to be the lightest and most compact 200hp motor available. The engine will be available in two versions offering either mechanical or electronic throttle and shift. Stand C252
